Rebecca – Captain
USCG National Master 50 Inland
I stumbled upon sailing during Summer 2012 when a night out with friends in Baltimore resulted in sailing under the Key Bridge at sunrise. I was hooked and got my first “free” boat two weeks later. Knowing nothing about sailing or maintenance, I checked sinking a boat, weathering a hurricane, and running aground off the experience list in one week. Five boats, seven seasons racing, and countless mentors later, I’ve progressed from researching how to sail while underway to USCG Licensed Captain.

I grew up as Jimmy Buffet would say “the son of a son of a sailor” – even though my father only did 4 years in the Navy it had a huge impact on his life and subsequently on mine. It was really no surprise that I joined the Navy right out of high school, although I never could have imagined that I would one day end up living and cruising full time on my own sailboat!
